Import anything. Read it your way.

Turn any text into speech, or read it faster.

Codolo imports text from a photo, a camera scan, a PDF, or any file. Then it reads the text aloud in a natural voice, or shows it word by word in a speed-reading mode with a highlighted focus letter.

Codolo is a mobile reading app that turns photos, scans, PDFs, and files into either spoken audio or a fast, word-by-word speed-reading mode.

How it works

  1. 01

    Import

Snap a photo, scan with your camera, drop in a PDF or file, or paste text directly.

  2. 02

    Listen or speed-read

Pick a text-to-speech voice, or switch to speed-reading mode, where a red focus letter guides your eye through each word.

  3. 03

    Track your progress

Codolo remembers where you left off in every text and logs your reading activity over time.

Built for how you actually read

Import and read text in the language it was written in, with voices and reading tools that go beyond English.

Backed by reading science

Frequently asked questions

What file types can Codolo import?+

Photos, camera scans, PDF files, and common document formats. Codolo extracts the text automatically, so you can listen to it or speed-read it.

What is speed-reading with ORP?+

Codolo's speed-reading mode shows one word at a time and highlights each word's optimal recognition point (ORP) in red. It's meant to reduce eye movement while reading. See the Science page for how it works and its limits.

Can Codolo read my text aloud instead?+

Yes. Text-to-speech is a first-class mode in Codolo, with natural-sounding voices you can listen to hands-free as an alternative to speed-reading.

Is Codolo free?+

Codolo is free to use, with an optional subscription (weekly, monthly, or yearly) that unlocks unlimited imports, offline audio, and every voice.

Does Codolo support languages other than English?+

Yes. You can import and read text in the language it was written in, using voices and reading tools that go beyond English.

Is there a desktop or browser version?+

Not yet. A desktop app and browser extension are in development. Join the waitlist to be notified when they launch.
